One fine Saturday morning, I was getting ready for a behavioral session at Chennai. I received a call from a taxi driver who had come to pick me up. I understood that he reached my place. I went down the stairs. I saw the cab driver waiting for me.
I looked at the driver, he seemed to be a 45-year-old man. When we were heading towards the venue, I gradually started talking to the driver. I found his driving interesting as he was so gentle and no honking at all. I complimented him saying "I like your driving".
When I broke the silence, he started talking to me. I was shocked when he said, "I am 58 years old and I am in this profession for the past 38 years." I said "It is unbelievable" as he was looking young.
He told me something which made me realize something. He said, "Sir, though I have been driving a taxi for the past 38 years, I have learned only 30% of driving and it is an art. I am learning every day"
Though he is an excellent driver with ample experience, he still feels that he needs rather loves to learn more about driving. He had achieved most of the goals that he had for his life. That was inspirational!
I have also met drivers who are very young and have around 4 to 5 years of experience. The way most of the young drivers speak is as if they know everything about driving and they are the best drivers in the world.
One of the most important habits that we need to nurture is "Humility - Being Humble". This enables us to stay grounded. This leads to seeing every moment as an opportunity to learn something. Continuous learning leads to mastery!
With love & compassion
